Hi folks,

I just got an update back from Brett Smith. I've been pinging him every
couple of weeks to see where we're at.

The SFLC (http://www.softwarefreedom.org/) have been primarily
discussing licensing issues for GCC, which probably has several issues
related to upgrading to GPLv3, probably including licensing exceptions
similar to ours.

On learning that we are now at the point where we are not waiting for
anything else at all except the licensing resolution, Brett has asked
the legal team to prioritize on our situation, which they've agreed to
do; and he has submitted proposed text for our licensing invocation for
critiquing. This should hopefully streamline things; however, he
indicated that he still doesn't know how long it might take. I'm going
to continue to hold the release in the hopes that these things may be
resolved and we can release Wget 1.11 in the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I'll ask RMS if it would be appropriate to release
under the licensing provisions we had used previously (GPLv2+ and
exemption) if a resolution is not reached soon, and issue a new minor
release bump when the current issues are resolved.

If he is agreeable to that, then I would like to target November 15 as
the latest we will wait for license resolution.
