Sneak preview our new IT zoo quiz

We thought we would try our latest quiz out on a few early users
before we put it up on our home page. But first, if you haven't
already, you may want to test your knowledge about one-time pads,
PKI, and block ciphers on Quiz #20: Cryptography, which is still on
our home page. Here it is:

One day as we strummed through our pages, we suddenly saw a lot of
animals staring out at us. And the next thing you know we had
written a new quiz about our new-found menagerie, which we called:
Quiz #21: We're Going to the Zoo!

Please let us know how you did. We would truly like to know.

Horses

February 12, 2002 begins the Year of the Horse on the Chinese
calendar. Unfortunately, that might not be good news for those of us
who depend on computers to do our work, especially since security
experts have already predicted that Trojan horse viruses will plague
us during 2002. And so we ask - have you ever been hit by a Trojan
horse virus? (After telling us, you can find out how many others
have been hit, too.)

98 experts to answer your questions (really)

We were surprised ourselves to learn that there are now 98 experts
who voluntarily answer questions on our 19 TechTarget sites. So we
made a "little" list and put them all on one Web page that tells you
their names, their expertise, and where to leave a question for them.
This could come in very handy, we think, but you may want to take a
look yourself.

Site-of-the-Week: search390.com

This is the Web site that over 65,000 registered mainframers depend
on for technical advice. You don't have to be a registered member to
use the site; however, there are some incentives - for example, you
can have free Developer, Web Enabling, and CICS Tips arrive in your
e-mail as they are added to the site. Sign up or change your
existing user profile at this address:

We finally defined "IBM"

We include definitions of a number of companies that have become
household words - such as "Oracle" and "SAP" - but somehow we never
got around to "IBM" until a few days ago. Perhaps it was the
challenge of having to figure out what to leave out in describing a
company that goes back to the days of time cards and punch clocks.
Here's what we ended up with...
