iPOD is a combination digital audio player and portable hard drive
from Apple Computer. About the size of a deck of playing cards, iPod
can be purchased with either a 10GB, 15GB, or 30GB hard drive and can
be connected to a computer through either a FireWire (Mac or Windows)
or USB (Windows only) port. iPOD has a reputation for being
user-friendly. Users navigate iPOD with what Apple calls a "touch
wheel," a centrally-placed circular disk designed for one-hand
operation. Popular iPOD features include a calendar, address book,
to-do list, alarm clock with sleep timer, games, and text reader. The
15GB and 30GB models come with a docking station that can also be
hooked up to a stereo system or powered speakers.

iPOD's digital audio player is platform dependent. If you purchase
iPOD for Windows, the audio player is called MUSICMATCH Jukebox Plus.
For Mac, it's called iTunes. Using either platform, it's possible to
load an entire CD onto an iPOD in as little as ten seconds. iPOD
supports most audio file formats including MP3, wav, and Apple's
proprietary format, AAC.
