The workload consists of some amount of application programming running in the computer and usually some number of users connected to and interacting with the computer's applications. A defined workload can be specified as a benchmark when evaluating a computer system in terms of performance (how easily the computer handles the workload), which in turn is generally divided into response time (the time between a user request and a response to the request from the system) and throughput (how much work is accomplished over a period of time). ______________________ RELATED TERMS: application program http://searchwebservices.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid26_gci507192,00.html?track=NL-34&ad=485365 benchmark http://searchsmallbizit.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid44_gci211650,00.html?track=NL-34&ad=485365 performance http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/0,,sid9_gci212773,00.html?track=NL-34&ad=485365 response time http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid7_gci212896,00.html?track=NL-34&ad=485365 throughput http://searchsmallbizit.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid44_gci213140,00.html?track=NL-34&ad=485365 ______________________ SELECTED LINKS: An IBM publication on AIX provides a "Performance Management Guide." http://publibn.boulder.ibm.com/doc_link/en_US/a_doc_lib/aixbman/prftungd/2365c12.htm _____________________ TODAY'S TECH NEWS: OPINION: THE SPY(WARE) WHO SHAGGED ME Brent Sheets has assembled an arsenal of free tools to help you combat these little sneaks. http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/originalContent/0,289142,sid1_gci970588,00.html?track=NL-34&ad=485365 WHAT COLOR IS THE WEB ANYWAY?
