Another variation of the method you mentioned (with two servers) is as
follows. Create the two servers to be monitored at the different times and
hide them somewhere out of view. Create a third server that you will
actually use as the one you're monitoring, and set it up so that it is
dependant on the previous two servers. That way, whenever one of the two
aliases go offline, WUG stops monitoring the third one automatically.
Yes, this is a bet funky but it does work.

Andy,
You can turn off the monitoring of that server under the General Tab I
believe and just turn it back on when you are done. I don't believe that
that is exactly what you are looking for but I don't know any automatic
way.
