How exactly would you be wanting to monitor these services? Via SNMP?

a) Squid does have a MIB, although in the words of the Squid website "Many things that
we want to monitor are not in the MIB". WhatsUp Gold MIBExtra can compile this MIB
with only one error, but that's because of a syntax problem in the MIB itself, and is
not fatal.

One important thing to note is that Squid SNMP runs by default on port 3401.

Thus, you are going to have to change this on the Squid end, as WhatsUp Gold SNMP
will only use port 161.

b) DHCP does not have a standard MIB, although some servers may implement private
MIBS:

(Note also that this FAQ has not been updated in a while).

I used to use WhatsUp Gold to monitor DHCP, but this was Microsoft DHCP and so it was
just a matter of using the NT Service Monitor plug-in.

Would this be a in a set-up with a single layer of maps, or with subnets? And running
WhatsUp Gold as an application or service? I am guessing that WhatsUp Gold may be
running as a service, in which case the work-around is to run as an application.
