Hi, I spent ages trying to get pager notifications working with WUG. In the
end, I gave up and went out and bought some command line software that sends
SMS messages to mobile phones. There are various flavours out there, but the
one we chose is called page-it and an evaluation copy is available for
download at http://www.page-it.ch Having go this you then need to configure
a program notification within WUG. Its been working fine here on the
vodaphone network for just over a year now.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Any UK-based WhatsUp/Vodafone Users out there?

Hi,

I'm to get WhatsUp Gold 6.02 to send SMS messages to my mobile phone
(Vodafone
UK network) using the Pager Notification function. The frustrating thing is
that I've nearly cracked it!!!

Have got the right message centre no (which WhatsUp dials correctly), I've
got
the correct Baud Rate and modem properties set (2400, 7 - E - 1) so WhatsUp
establishes a connection with the message gateway. The point where it all
goes
wrong is where I want data to be sent from my WhatsUp Server to the Vodafone
Message gateway. From the contents of the Debug Log it seems that what I
need
WhatsUp to do is:

Initialize modem
Dial

Wait
Recieve (Welcome banner)

Wait
Transmit (my mobile phone no.)

Wait
Transmit (Alert text)

Wait
Receive (Message sent confirmation)

Hang up

If there's anyone out there who's successfully got this working (on any
network)
I'd love to hear from you. Alternatively, I anyone has any ideas how I can
change how WhatsUp behaves while sending a pager notification, any advice
would
be gratefully received.

Best regards
