Some mail servers can take a long time to respond because they are doing a reverse DNS
lookup on the IP address of the PC running WhatsUP Gold. There are two things you can
do:
1) Ensure that the PC that is running WhatsUp Gold has a PTR record in DNS.
2)If this is not sufficient, then you can edit a registry entry to increase the value
of the timeout that WhatsUp Gold uses when connecting to the SMTP server, providing
you are using WhatsUp Gold v6.02:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ipswitch\WhatsUp\Notification\SMTPMail
The Value named Settings_Timeout is created the first time an SMTP Notification is
run, and defaults to 10000. This value is in milliseconds, so change it to 15000 to
increase the timeout value to 15 seconds.
