I'm presently evaluating WhatsUp Gold 6.02 for use in our
organization. For our reporting, we would like to generate both periodic
reports for specific time intervals (day, week, month,... the usual) as
well as on-demand reports via a web page. The most straightforward method I
know of would be to parse the WUGEvent.log file with a Perl script. My
concern is how long these files are maintained and how large they grow.

Is the WUGEvent log ever cleared or trimmed automatically?

Will it cause a problem if the WUGEvent.log file were cleared or deleted?
For example, at the beginning of each month:
     stop the WUG service
rename the WUGEvent.log file to WUGEvent-yyyy-mm.log
     start the WUG service
That way the logs would only span a single month and not get too
excessively large over long periods of time.

Thanks!
