fyi The Web interface may be a decent alternate place to quickly index
maps when you start getting this many.

An off the wall idea is to hook up a second monitor to give you much
more real estate so you can better arrange all these maps (Later versions
of the windows OS have multi video card support)

A similar feature request has been logged for a device search tool, but map find/list 
looks like it could be useful when the number
of maps grows like this.
