I appreciated your responses to my earlier question about the Interface
capability. I'm getting warmer......

Anyone else run into the following behavior? I wonder it's by design, a
bug or due to my grasp of all this.

I scanned up some routers that fit the profile of my custom device
'Cisco3600' - that template includes the Interface service. My newly
discovered device gets modeled but quickly goes magenta, indicating service
down. Edit >Properties....Services shows a check-mark in the Interface box.

I click the AutoDiscover button and multiple router interfaces are
discovered; for ones that are running, the box is checked. Also, the the
'global' Interface box (at the top of the Interface list) which was
previously checked due to my initial discovery session, that is now
unchecked.
I give the detailed interface window an OK, drop back from Edit to Map,
then rightclick a 'check now'. The router icon goes green in a blink with
the more detailed interface list.

What's Up with this? Version 7 interface/service discovery seems partial
at best, unless I drive it on a router by router basis. It occurs to me
that this may have to do with 'SCOUNT=' my the hosttype.ini, but I dunno.
Maybe the initial discover/scan code is interested in something other than
ifOperStatus or whatever OIDs are involved here.

Anyway, what I'm finding seems much more global than the intermittent
service down issue, addressed by the KB article that Tim Farley helpfully
pointed out. Any takers? ;-)

TIA -Don
