I don't know how to disable it, but in v 6.02 you can delete or replace the file whatsup\web\webdown.wav. Perhaps it's the same in 7.0.
I currently have it replaced with a much less annoying sound. The file is typically cached in your web browsers cache, so you may need to clear the cache too.
