Somix Technologies is developing a Syslog tool for their WebNM product that can get information from Event Viewer. This tool will also be able to get syslog from just about anything that produces one, including UNIX and network devices. The syslog tool will also have built in notifications. This tool should be available in the next month or so.

However, I agree that monitoring/auditing your logs is an important part of any NMS. For NT/2000 servers, I use a product I called EventReporter, http://www.eventreporter.com that will dump NT Event logs to a syslog server. You can use WUG Syslog or another syslog server product to monitor from there. I use a separate syslog product that will provide notifications if certain events appear in any of my remote devices that are sending UDP syslog records. This would be a neat feature in WUG Syslog. Anyone else have suggestions for incorporating notifications of NT Event Log events with WUG? -Shawn > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2002 9:32 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] NT Event viewer > > > Hi there > > I've just bought WhatsUP Gold 7.0 and are trying to figure > out how to solve > my problem > I get errors in my Event viewer from an ASAPI program that > are hooked to > IIS 4.0 now my problem is > How do i get WhatsUP to spot this error, it has the same text > every time > and second is there a way of restarting IIS and this ASAPI with it ??? > > I can assist with more information if you need it > > Hope you can help me > > Dennis Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
