Microsoft SAPI5 is bundled inside the WhatsUp Gold plug-in. One problem
we've founds is that the Microsoft Installer does not report back to say
whether the SAPI5 install has suceeded or failed. Thus, the TTS plug-in
install continues OK, appears as a component within WhatsUp Gold, and (if
there's no SAPI5) gives the error message "Can't create tts"

Another cause of the same problem would be when SAPI5 somehow gets
uninstalled after the TTS plug-in is installed.

You can check whether or not SAPI5 is installed by checking in your
Add/Remove Programs list.

Re-running the TTS install will install SAPI5 if SAPI5 is able to be
installed.

We have found that SAPI5 will not install if there are soundcard problems.
Not having a soundcard at all is the most obvious example.

Thus, the solution to your problem would start in getting more information
on the particulars of your hardware, and then following the tech support
route.

In the meantime, we will be working on that SAPI5 Installer to see if it
can't be a bit more informative.

Hi,

no, so far I have only heard from people with the same problem. I tried it
on
another W98 machine, same problem.

I will contact support later today. When it works, it works well, much
better
than using separate programs.

regards,

Colin
