Up until v7 you needed a device icon per router interface you wanted to monitor
and you monitored the IP of that router interface.  In v7 you can define and attach 
interfaces
to devices as if they were services.  They are visualized as colored "link" lines.

see page 53 of the manual for some additional info on link lines in general.

Interfaces on Routers and Switches can be discovered using the
SNMP Smart Scan (File | New Map Wizard) and this is probably
the easiest way to get them configured - or - you can just visit the
properties of an SNMP enabled switch or router and select "Auto Discover"
on the "Services" page.  Note you need to have the SNMP community
string entered in the SNMP page for this device to discover interfaces in this way.
