Wow! trapgen works perfectly for me on both windows and Solaris platforms
Now, how do I distinguish between SNMP messages? I've now got it so that any SNMP trap does a winpopup alert (I'll get SMTP sorted out soon) but what if I want to bug different people for different alerts? For example: I want to alert the backup group if the backup fails. I want to alert the systems group if the disk mirror breaks. I want to alert the janitor if the temperature gets too high. All 3 SNMP messages will originate from the same source, but with different OID's (hopefully). In other words, I'm confused as to what to put in the "On SNMP Trap" field in the "Edit Notification" window. What, if anything, do I put in the "Device Iedntifier". Another question. The little star turns purple when I get an SNMP trigger. When and/or how does it go off? How can this be done from the web interface? -----Original Message----- From: Mark Symons [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: January 30, 2002 5:16 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] so how do I catch this trap? > To reword the question slightly, is there some PD > software I could use to send a dummy trap just to > make sure it's working?
