A great technique with WUG 7 is to use the map import/export feature to accomplish this. One key fact that makes this easier is that if you import the same map "on top" of itself, it merges together. So you can export a map, edit the exported copy, then re-import to alter something. With a text-editing tool such as a programmers editor or AWK or PERL, you can do all sorts of mass changes to your maps this way. The field where the polling method is stored is called "SpecialFlags" in the export. So for instance if you do an INI file export of a map, you would see something like this for each host: [Device:0x494A2A1C] DisplayName=FOO HostName=FOO IPAddress=000123456789 HostTypeName=Host SpecialFlags=0x00013002 The digit which is "1" in SpecialFlags above is the one of interest. The values you can put here include: ICMP 0 NETBIOS 1 TCPIP 2 IPX 4 If this host is also marked as being SNMP managable, add 8 to each of these values. You want to change ONLY that digit, and keep all the other digits in SpecialFlags the same. These govern other aspects of how that host is configured, so you will have unintended side effects if you alter them. Once you have edited the INI files to change that digit, then simply re-import them over top of the maps you exported them from.
