Scott,
I have Verizon SMS set up. I just added a new Pager instance under
configure, notifications library, pager. I use the tap number they gave me
(1-866-823-0501) under the terminal number section. terminal password -
leave blank. Pager ID - My cell number. Protocol- tap. And i tell it to
use my primary modem. That's it. Works great.

I'm trying to find a way to do this with Verzion. I've got the TAP phone
number, but I'm stuck after that.
If anyone has any experience with this, please respond.
Thanks.
Scott

OK, VoiceStream's TAP interface has been broken for some time. They say
that the only ways to send an SMS message to a VoiceStream phone are to send
it from email, their website or another VoiceStream phone. They used to
have a phone number that WhatsUp could call and send a message using the TAP
Protocol. Now that number picks up but no message can be sent.
Welp, for my porpuses, I need a way to send a text message to my phone Out
of Band. The network that I monitor relies on the Internet and if it is the
Internet that is down, then I can't send an email to my phone.
I dialed up the old TAP phone number with a console program and it responded
with a prompt:
ID=
Following the TAP protocol (i think), I typed "M" and enter to send in
manual mode. It then asked me for the phone number to send the message to.
I entered my cellphone number like this: 1XXXYYYZZZZ followed by enter. Then
it asked for the message, so I typed in something and pushed enter.... no
sooner than pushing the enter button, the text showed up on my phone !!!
Now for the hard part.... How can I make this all happen automatically with
the WhatsUp variables?
Thanks,
Jim
