Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] follow-up to SNMP monitor/threshold inquiry
Sorry, folks, for my stupidity in not checking the website first. The
website states that the SNMP Threshold monitor plug-in is downloadable for
versions up to 6. For 7.0 and higher I should use the SNMP Monitoring
included in the installation.
Now the question is how do I configure it.....for constant value, range of
values, or rate of change of values? I'm measuring input voltage of a
Liebert 300 UPS. If voltage is below 250, for whatever length of time,
then send out a notification that the device is down. With the Threshold
settings previously, you could say "if higher/lower than 250 volts, then
device is up/down and send notification."
Thanks............

SNMP monitor/threshold(Document link:

Hi, all.
I transferred my WUG 7.02 installation to a new server. The old server
still has WUG 7.02 installed, and I've noticed a difference in the
available SERVICE TYPE under configuration\monitors and services. On the
old server installation, I can create a service and under SERVICE TYPE
select SNMP Threshold. On the new server installation, SNMP Threshold is
not in the pulldown list. Only the following are listed:
Telnet Monitoring
DNS
TCP/IP Service
NT Service
SNMP Monitoring
The old server installation has SNMP Threshold in that list as well. The
installation on the new server went fine! I copied over the WUG directory,
then re-installed the 7.0 CD, then applied the 7.01 and 7.02 upgrades, then
imported the WhatsUp registry folder with all my configurations The
application is fully functional on the new server.
There is only one difference that I can think of. On the old server, the
original installation was from a 6.01 CD. I believe that I then upgraded
to 7.0 from the website. Then added the 7.01 and 7.02 upgrades.
On the new server, I installed with the 7.0 CD and then did the two
upgrades to 7.02.
I wonder if this is the problem????? Anybody have an idea?
