Hi - A question about custom services.

Ipswitch tech support told me that "Currently there is no way to do this
natively from within WUG" and suggested this list.

I have a remote data collection system, reachable from my WUG box via
ssh, which receives periodic application status info from various
application servers [which I can't reach directly].

What I'd like to do is define a custom service to:

- run a script on my WUG box, passing it parameters via expect script to
identify a particular node, application, service
- have that script connect to my remote data collection box via ssh,
query it [local SQL], and return the data to be parsed via expect script

So my question is: Is there a simple way to do this without:
- writing COM code [I'm not a developer]
- setting up some kind of fake TCP/IP service [e.g. web server] to have
WUG query

So basically, I want to use local script output as a proxy service
monitor, so WUG can handle polling, thresholding, alerting.

I didn't see anything right off the bat in the WhatsUp KB.
I'm new to this list, if there is a FAQ with answers that address this
please point me there.

Thanks for the help - Jeff
