problem with making those changes is that, WUG is monitoring more than one
service on just about all of our servers, and our help desk monitors our maps
for anything that is down so we want to make it as easy as possible for
them.

Configured this way WUG puts out a single TCP querry for the service and then the stats for that object in reports will reflect the availability of that service. Can be messy on the maps but looks good in the reports.
