You'll need to install the APC snmp/ethernet module to use the mib. The RS-232 port on the UPS is used to communicate to the host that it is providing protection for.
The main thing that serial port is used for is to tell the host that it's on battery, and can tell the host it should to a graceful shutdown when the battery gets low. The host can inquire
the health of the UPS as well. But to use WUG to inquire the health of the UPS directly, you need that module. At about $200 bucks apiece times thousands....bring the big checkbook.

Has anyone tried monitoring APC'S. We have thousands off them that I would
like to monitor. I have reviewed the article on monitoring APC. The APC'S
are hooked up to com 1 on the servers. I have down loaded the mibs and I
have created my service. Help
