sounds like you have it. All of my devices on a map are dependant on the
router. I also make sure that they have the check only if this is up
checked. for the most part. if the wan goes down I only get the email from
the router. IF the router is up and the switch goes down i get that alert.
The only problem left to worry a little about is polling order and the
number of missed polls before a device is down. It is possible that just
after you polled the router, that everything goes down. The switch and
server would have a missed poll count higher then the router.

Okay, I am not certain if the dependencies work this way, but that is what I
am trying to find out from you all...

If I have a router, switch and server at each location.

When a circuit drops (to the router) I am no longer able to see any of the
equipment, however, I only want the router to notify me.

Also, if a switch or server should fail independently of the router, then I
want a notification as well.

Basically, when a circuit drops I do not want 3 e-mails, but I do want
notification when a specific device fails.

Anyone????
