sounds like you have it. All of my devices on a map are dependant on the router. I also make sure that they have the check only if this is up checked. for the most part. if the wan goes down I only get the email from the router. IF the router is up and the switch goes down i get that alert. The only problem left to worry a little about is polling order and the number of missed polls before a device is down. It is possible that just after you polled the router, that everything goes down. The switch and server would have a missed poll count higher then the router.
