I configure all the servers with 4 different internal NTP time servers in different Cities on our corporate network (all corporate DNS servers are also NTP servers). As long as a server has a stratum higher than 7 it is synchronized. If I cut off the communication to all 4 different internal NTP servers then the box drops to a very low stratum level (15 or 16 comes to mind).
