Go to: Configure -> Program Options -> Event Servers -> Syslog -> Configure
I suspect that the checkbox "Filter out all unsolicited Syslog entries" might be checked. Uncheck it and your alerts will now work. The first paragraph of the Help on this config dialog explains the operation of this filter fully. Hope this helps Mark Symons Ipswitch, Inc Augusta GA -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of christoph.roth Sent: Tuesday, January 28, 2003 08:07 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] NO notification on syslog and snmp entries (WUG 8) Hello everybody I encounter the following problem: When WUG 8.0 (Rev. 2002.12.17) receives an snmp trap or syslog event, it does NOT trigger a notification. The device settings are: ITEM PROPERTIES in EVENTS: no "events to solicit" selected in ALERTS -> "select events" set to "any ... including unsolicited stuff" Syslog/SNMP events show up in the global SNMP/syslog logs, but not in the Activity Log nor device specific logs (Quick Status) TRAPS and syslog records only trigger notifications ONLY, when qualified (e.g. NOT of type "ANY") Did somebody face the same problems Is that a bug? Any workarounds/patches in sight? Thank your for comments on that time consuming piece of software...
