Yes, Version 8 helps this. We talked about this in WhatsUp Gold class last
week.....
Under the General" tab of "Program Options" there is a check box for
"preserve states....". That will prevent notifications from reoccurring.
If you run as a service, you can execute a command file to stop the
service, bring up the console, and run the service again when you close the
console":
net stop "WhatsUp Gold Service"
c:\program files\whatsup\whatsupgold.exe
net start "WhatsUp Gold Service"

Does WUG 8 keep status info between restarts?
I want to run WUG as a service. However I do make changes that require the
console on a weekly bases. Some weeks, like right now. I'm making changes
on an almost hourly rate, because we are doing some upgrades and changes to
the network. So if I stop the service and open the console make the
changes
then close the console to start the service. My staff then gets 3 down
messages for something that never went back up. If timing is right then
the
alerts for up messages don't go out, or a alert at 4 minutes may take 12
minutes to go out. This has caused some confusion and mistrust of WUG.
Because of this I always run it in console mode, and have the server auto
logon at boot.
I would really like to run WUG as a service. Does version 8 help?
