I also have an installation of WUG that just stops doing anything. I'm
running it on a Windows 2000 Server, SP4 machine. I also noticed that
the snmpgraph.exe has a bad memory leak in it. I have two WUG machines
actually, one polling, and one graphing. The graphing machine I had to
downgrade to 6.01 (I never had 7), because the snmpgraph.exe handle leak
would take the machine down within a couple hours.

The polling machine is running v8.01, and I haven't had major problems
in a while, but I've gotten into the practice of rebooting them once a
day. Kinda sad that you have to reboot once a day because of memory
leaks. I haven't used the syslog or NT event log monitoring
functionality, but I've seen many people post about memory leaks in
those components as well.

I really like WUG and IPSwitch products in general (we also use WS-FTP
Server). I hope they fix these issues ASAP.

That brings up another question...is anyone at IPSwitch reading this
e-mail list?

I can't add much that's useful here except to say that I have an
installation of WUG that DOES just stop polling. I too was not sure it
was monitoring and alerting. The issue was revealed by overlapping
management software showing downs when WUG showed ups.

I have WUG running as a service and after some time passes (how much
time is under investigation) it just stops polling.

Drilling down through the web pages to an individual device shows "last
poll time" and reveals that it's no longer polling. Re-starting the
service on the box re-starts the polling.

The issue seems to have started after I patched from 8.0 to 8.01

If anyone knows of a way to run the debug log and pipe it to a file
while WUG is running as a service I'd be interested in knowing about
that.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] WUG 8.01 RAM Usage

I have been having a few issues with WUG 8.01 on a Win2K Pro SP 2. I
notice most that the web interface is down. WUG is still open and as
best as I can tell it is running. However I'm not sure the monitoring
and alerting is still working. However I have noticed that when I go in
to restart WUG to get the web interface working the memory usage is very
high. I see that WUG is using 100+MB of memory, and the VMem is at
around 260MB. When I start WUG it's usage is at about 10 MB.

Does any one have any ideas?

IPSwitch - Do you know about this issue?
