If What's Up Gold is hanging, something is probably wrong with the environment (OS condition) in which it is running. Running two instances of What's Up on the same port, or running the service and console at the same time could cause it to appear to hang. Whether this is possible or not will depend on your registry settings. If you service checks are returning OK, then What's Up is functioning. Are you running terminal services on the box? There may be instances running in another session.

Yes, you do. I checked with IpSwitch back when I first purchased the product.

This setup also gives you load balancing if you've got many devices to
monitor.
But don't you need a second license?

Hi,
I have this problem and use a second WUG machine to check
the first and visa versa. You can easily monitor the contents of a web page and use
this as the UP criteria.

Seems to work well, and the "Lite" version is
free. Works fine to just monitor the WuG service and send out alerts if it's down.

What software do you have to monitor if WUG is
up and running. I have found that WUG is hanging and not dieing, so checking for the
process doesn't work.
I just found a software from idyle software,
called Host Monitor. http://www.idyle.com/software/internet/host-monitor/index.html It
says it is freeware and it looks like it is small. Does any have experience with it.
I'm not looking for a replacement for WUG, but looking for something to reboot the box
when needed.
Thank You
