You may want to have a look at http://www.mochasoft.net . This is a Danish company offering various terminal emulators on almost all platforms. One is a java telnet client. This one can run also with SOCKS and through a proxy server.

I am sure, this does what you need.

Hope this helps.

OK Great...I've got the program installed and linked to whatsup, yet whenever I run this app, it just tries to telnet to the pc on which whatsup is running on.  I've gone through the docs and I cant find anything that says how to specify the host to connect to.  Anyone have any ideas on how to do this...I've got the applet installed, not the full program.  Thanks

Yeah, I tried that, but it opens a local telnet, like you said, and from my machine, I cant reach those remote subnets.  Thanks though.

Jason,

I'm 100% clear on your mission... but this might be helpful?

You can use a telnet URL like this in your code/browser... telnet://hostname or include a port telnet://hostname:port but these will only induce your telnet app, and will not use any special browser stuff to get there.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Telnet from web

Hello
I was just wondering if any of you web programmers out there know of a way to do a telnet session from within a web browser.  My problem is, our WhatsUp monitoring servers have routes across the wan to many sites which we monitor.  I monitor whatsup though the web pages from my desktop which has no way of reaching the wan.  I see that you can ping from within the web browser to the remote sites....is there any way to setup some sort of telnet proxy though the whatsup web interface?  Anyone ever tried to tackle a program like this, maybe its already been done.  Thanks
