Hi
Jan,
your
issue is most likely the exchange server(s). As you mentioned, you monitor
events. Exchange server produce a ton (a medium size production server > 100
MB/day) of events. You should look at your event monitoring. The poll cycle does
not have any impact on events as they are (nomen est omen) event driven. Just
out of interest. How many servers are you monitoring? And are they on the same
network?
Hope
this points into the right direction.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Too much traffic...Hi all,
We are running WUG since a week or three now.
Last week we stopped the monitoring, because we had complaints from our network team (and their superiors) that we were using way to much bandwith. We poll every 10 minutes and are checking just a few (Exchange) services and an event in the eventlog.
What's the best to tune down the polling, without loosing to much functionality?
Is there a difference in traffic load between ICMP and "Services only"?
Thanks,
Jan
