I just monitor the SQL service (and SQL Agent service) using the NT service plug-in.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] MS-SQL Monitoring expect script

Dear WUG list members,
I would like to monitor a MS-SQL application connection we have, and I noticed that it has a port 1433 TCP that it uses.   When I try to telnet to this port, my connection gets refused, so I was wondering if there is a special sequence of characters that could be scripted to get a response out of that MS-SQL Monitor port.  Has anyone tried this or something similar to monitor an MS-SQL service on ports 1433 and/or 1434 ??    Thanks in advance for any pointers/replies!!

Paul
