Thanks Paul,
but in this case you do monitor only TCP port (is it opened or not) , not MySQL daemon/DB work.
Mostly, if mysql daemon goes down also goes down the TCP port too,
but not in all cases (daemon config problems, sql user problems, DB problems etc..).

Someone on this group showed me how to do this last year (thanks, btw! Love this group!!). On the console (not web gui) Go to:
Configure > Monitors and Services > click "New" > name service MySQL and select Service Type "TCP/IP Service", click OK > insert TCP port 3306, click OK
now you have a new service called MySQL that checks port 3306 (btw, if you have your mysql running on a different non-standard port, then be sure to create the service for that port, and not 3306). Create a new object with the IP of the Mysql server and have it monitor JUST services, and insert the service to be MySQL which you created above.
Two things to keep in mind with this solution:
1) you must set up your mysql server to accept connections from the outside (preferably ONLY your WUG server for security)
2) if you're running iptables or other Linux firewall, be sure to allow port 3306 inbound from the outside (again, preferably ONLY from your WUG server for security)
Hope this helps!!~
