thanks, let me explain a little better. if I put it on the device within 
the container it works fine. I am just trying to simplify the notifications 
by putting an alert/notification on the container instead of putting all 
the alerts on the individual devices. any ideas?

I have containers setup to show each group of devices I wish to monitor.
the problem is when I set the containter group to alert me when a device
within this container goes down, it alerts me multiple times (x * the
number of devices in the container). Anybody have any Ideas of what I am
doing wrong?
