DISMAN-EVENT-MIB may be your friend and might save a lot of scripting. Let's pretend we're monitoring a web server on "apple" with community string "publoc" sending traps to "beartrap".
We would need the following entries in apple's snmpd.conf: syslocation "somewhere over the rainbow" syscontact "the man in black" sysservices 79 agentSecName beartrap rouser beartrap rocommunity publoc trapsink beartrap publoc trap2sink beartrap publoc trapinform beartrap publoc trapcommunity publoc proc httpd defaultMonitors yes When it dies, it shows up in UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrMessage and should kick out a trap. I've got this sort of working and will post final solution when I'm happy. >At this time, we wish to receive an alert when one Unix process is down. >We have no idea about the script you meant, have an example of that script ? >Once it run, this script will generate a snmp trap when a monitored process down, isn't it ? pls correct me if I'm wrong.
