I have
not done this myself, but just offering this up as a possibility, albeit with a
few steps to get there. Maybe someone else has a much simpler
approach, but I can tell you from running syslog-ng and mysql that this should
work. Assuming your MySQL server can run Syslog-NG (is a flavor of
Unix):
1) Set up Syslog-NG on your MySQL server (http://www.balabit.com/products/syslog_ng
) Look at the FAQ's on that link for more info
2) Configure Syslog-NG to send copies of all syslogs to
MySQL, ( http://vermeer.org/syslog/ )
3) Have the WU server send Syslogs (using its Notifications
Library, set it up) of all alerts to your MySQL / Syslog
server
Hope
this offers you a direction to take. Perhaps other users might have other
approaches that are smoother, but if not perhaps you can give this a try.
Syslog-NG is not very hard to set up, I've done it on several Linux boxes and
works like a charm, even runs alongside the old syslog just
fine. Balazs Scheidler did us a
great service by improving on syslog, you should check it
out!

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] mySQL DB Connection
I am trying to find a way to get WhatsUp to dump logs into a mySQL database. Has anyone been able to accomplish this, and if so how?
thanks!
