Have you tried to send your debug log to support so
that they could decipher what is wrong?
If i'm not mistakened, the DirectSMS plugin
requires you to buy a special SMS broadcasting modem....

We are currently evaluating whatups gold
version 8.03 as we want to use the SMS facility. But we are having many
problems with this feature. When we setup a SMS alert and do a test , it dials
up ok as the modem is properly installed and working, but then comes up with
box saying the test has failed. We have tried all the providers that are
configured and also edited the providers number such as removed the 44 and
chosen different modem speed but still the same thing. We have used another
program called notepage which also is a sms software and uses the same
providers and we have tested this software on the same machine, modem and
telephone line and it works fine as it sends out a text message to my mobile
as how I want it, but this does not occur in whatsup. Anyone face this
before
