Hi Marc,

I dont believe you can do this with WhatsUp Gold.

You can use Denika for WhatsUp Gold which can connect to your database (e.g.
Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) and execute a query against the database
and expect a specific value. When the value is not returned properly, Denika
can be configured to notify and administrator.

The add on that does this in Denika is kind of tricky so, we ship the script
in opensource and we dont provide telephone support on it.

Have fun.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Monitoring an Oracle Server

Hello,

In the WhatsUp advertisement they wrote that it is possible to monitor an
Oracle server.

I found an article in the knowledgebase who describe how to monitor the
Oracle listener,
that is great but It does not tell you the Database is up and running.

Can we not send an SQL query thru ODBC or something to make shure the system
is
running ?

Thank you in advancefor the reply,
Best regards,
