Yeah, I'd mentioned that I've tried Nagios, but it does not have the
nice graphical frontend to represent the logical/physical network (at
least not one that you can manually design like whatsup or intermapper)

I think that we are going to settle on Intermapper as it is very similar
to
whatsup and has the pretty web interface gui which the end users like.
