I process all SNMP messages from my devices. I found it difficult to process all events (UP, DOWN, SNMP, SVCUP, SVCDOWN) with a single Whatsup SMTP mail message. Also, by using a program I have greater control over the message content. The clearer I can make the message, the better.
I filter out those SNMP messages that are irrelevant. Additionally, I have added code to my VBScript that does message suppression.
