I use a javica sensor that I found on the IPswitch website. what I did was set a device to monitor traps, not services. Go to the device properties, events, and add SNMP trap and then you can choose the right trap, or I just use any. Setup a custom notification for this device, with %(*) ( I think that's the one that shows all options, but I could be wrong. either way, its in the help file) this will send you an alert with all of the SNMP info for that device. choose the info you want and modify your alert. Mine looks something like this:
server room temperature is %(hhmsSensorValue.0)
that sends an email to my cell phone with the current temperature. There is one bad thing about the way WUG handles this, you will have to setup a new notification for every SNMP device you want to monitor, if it does not monitor the same value. I think I am going to submit a feature request for something that will allow me to create a unique notification for each device, like in an info 1 area, and call that to a notification. You can do that now with text, but to my knowledge it will not pass variables. If you have any questions, send me an email. I had to call tech support to get this figured out.

I have ran the mibextra command and thats ok. I can now create a service but how would I know which appropriate oid to use to monitor air temperatu re. Where can I find this information. _____ From: Williamson, Ryan [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 11 June 2004 21:07 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] Interseptor device Gurvinder, There is an exe file in the WUG directory that you have to run to add the mib file to it's database; it's called "mibextra". Run it from a command prompt ... run it as ... mibextra /? to get the help for it. It's a little cryptic, but it works. Then, create a service in WUG and use the appropriate SNMP oid for the device (for instance the oid that monitors the air temp). When adding it you tell the service that if "x" value reaches "x" then consider it down (so 76 degrees for instance). Add the actual device in WUG and then attach that service to the device. There may be other ways, but that's ho w I've monitored fans in a device before.
