So right after notes: in desvicedetails.asp
<%IF% %FIND_STRING% ("serve....", %DEVICE% HOSTNAME)>
<TR><TD>MRTG Info:</TD>
<BR>
<TD colspan=2><center><B>Server (<%DEVICE% HOSTNAME>) Port Traffic
5-Minute</B>
<a href="http://domain.com/mrtg/html/<%DEVICE% UP_DEPENDENCY_NAME>/<%DEVICE%
UP_DEPENDENCY_NAME>_<%DEVICE% HOSTNAME>.html">
<img border"0" src="http://domain.com/mrtg/html/<%DEVICE%
UP_DEPENDENCY_NAME>/<%DEVICE% UP_DEPENDENCY_NAME>_<%DEVICE%
HOSTNAME>-day.png" width="500" height="135"></A>
<BR>
</td></tr>
<%ENDIF%>
</TABLE></TD>
%find string% can be anything valid but hostname in this section works for
all of my servers. I'll do an else for my other devices and all of my 2000+
graphs will be linked with very little code and no effort. That way my
cfgmaker in mrtg will make all changes.
Works great...

Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] Link scripts for MRTG
So since I redid my mrtg with templates to conform to our 508 standards and
I hacked the mrtg code a little I came up with this idea. First off my mrtg
stuff rarely changes and those changes will now be automatically injected
into WUG. This way of doing it does not allow WUG to write the mrtg configs
but I could care less since I already wrote my indexes, configs, templates,
etc. And I based this off of what has happened or is happening on the
router/switch side. i.e. name a port and mrtg updates in the next run then
WUG will see it and attach it to the correct device.
So here is my idea. -find your servers; you could do it by devicetype or
what ever...
Then somewhere on the devicedetails page you would place this. My guess is
somewhere under notes.
<%IF% %FIND_STRING% ("Serve....", %DEVICE% HOSTNAME)>
<TR><TD>MRTG Info:</TD><TD>
</TD><TD colspan=2></table><center><B>Server (<%DEVICE% HOSTNAME>) Port
Traffic 5-Minute</B>
<BR>
<a href="http://domain.com/mrtg/html/<%DEVICE% UP_DEPENDENCY_NAME>/<%DEVICE%
UP_DEPENDENCY_NAME>_<%DEVICE% HOSTNAME>.html">
<img border"0" src="http://domain.com/mrtg/html/<%DEVICE%
UP_DEPENDENCY_NAME>/<%DEVICE% UP_DEPENDENCY_NAME>_<%DEVICE%
HOSTNAME>-day.png" width="500" height="135"></A>
<BR>
<TABLE border=0 width="100%">
</td></tr>
<%ELSE%> or <%ENDIF%> depending on what you might need to do.
I'm still playing with routers vs. switches but so far I think this 9 or 10
lines plus or minus a few more to clean it up will do for my entire install.
I'm sure I'll find a big hole somewhere that might make me rethink about not
doing it this way but so far I don't see it.
If I do let mrtg write the cfg's I'll do it for the routers/switches only
and then use the above to attach what mrtg has already written.

There has been a lot in the past on scripts using the %device%hostname, etc
to link mrtg graphs with a little code in the devicedetails.asp.
Anyone have some examples of that. I was wanting to revisit it since I
upgraded to 2003 and wanted some ideas of how others are doing it.
Thanks
