all, i've been in munich (systems fair) yesterday and had a look at whats up pro.
the main benefit is a really new web interface. as it seems, there is need to use the local console at all. - it is possible to do almost all tasks right from your browser (such as notification and service polling configuration) - the polling engine will not be blocked any more if you are editing a map - it is easier to attach notifications to many devices, there are better notification policies (such as: inform me only if _BOTH_ clusternodes are crashing at midnight) - you will be able to create more than one icon from one device (but it will be polled only once) - dependencies will work over diferent maps - snmp traps can be forwarded to other systems - "real" MSSQL database support (MSDE is supported as well) but, (my main disappointment) wup will run as a _single_ user. no multiple domain logon will be supported for service and windows event log polling. but i should email the programmers and it will be logged as feature request (*knock, knock*) disclaimer: list is not complete, this is just what was interesting for me... and Jacob: WuP will be an upgrade for WuG, since the small business version seems already very similar to WuP. but no sorrows: the squeeky user interface of small business is not used in WuP :) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Jacob Sent: Wednesday, October 20, 2004 4:15 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [WhatsUp Forum] What's Up Pro Quick question...
