In looking thru the messages over the past month or so, there's been few
generalized dates tossed out as possible release dates, but nothing
"fixed" yet (one of them indicated possibly the 25th of October...).
Does IPSwitch have a fixed release date yet for when WhatsUpPro (v9.x)
will be "officially released" and will IPswitch make it available for
D/L to those of us with maintenance agreements while waiting on a CD to
be shipped to us so we can start looking over the way the new version
will work (I've got a couple of major projects I'll be working on at the
same time and the sooner I get started on this, the better!)...

Maps and reports are two key areas of improvement as fate would have
it.
Here's a brief overview, forgive me for the marketese, it's simpler for
me to
just cut and paste from documents I'm working on.

WhatsUp Professional was built with three key goals in mind,
scalability,
usability and extensibility.

------
Scalability - WhatsUp Professional manages devices in a central list
rather
than a collection of maps. This reduces the overhead associated with
polling
and allows the system to effectively scale to larger environments.
Maps and
reports are now views onto the list and groups derived from the list.
This
allows you to manage large numbers of devices using logical groupings,
and to
quickly get reports on those just those devices. Additionally the
system
employs a SQL Server database for storage of all assets, configuration
and
logs.

Usability - The user interface was designed from the ground up to meet
the
needs of several key user profiles and to provide not only the best
initial
user experience, but to meet the needs of the most experienced user as
well.
Users interact with the system in a linear manner, with all key tasks
being
available within a single process flow, making complicated chores such
as
monitor configuration simple and straight forward.

Extensibility - The system now employs an IIS compliant web server and
supports all the standard scripting languages available in that
environment.
The SQL Server database is open and accessible, and there will be a
software
developer kit (SDK) called WhatsUp Developer, available for
constructing
Active Monitor, Passive Monitor and Action plug-ins for the system.
-----

There's a ton of other new stuff as well and we'll be releasing more
details
shortly. WhatsUp Professional really rocks, you're going to love it!

Cheers!

Subject: [Norton AntiSpam] [WhatsUp Forum] What's Up Pro - Reporting

Are there any new reporting features with What's Up Pro besides the SQL
data
storage. How about being able to report on systems from several
different maps
at once?

Thx,
/kush
