Hey, I ran into something interesting yesterday while T-Shooting a problem we were experiencing with our WhatsUp Gold system and the OPCON scheduler which would pipe into the eventlog of it's server any error messages relating to failed scheduler jobs so the operators could manually restart them and thought maybe it might be of value to those I know I saw post a message in the past concerning some of their alerts having stopped working and were trying to figure out why but didn't ever see any conclusions or resolutions to their reported problems.
In short, I discovered that with the NTServices Plug in, it used to be that you'd set up an expression to search for some piece of text out of one of the event logs that might have looked something like this: ~.*(text to be looked for) It now works by using only: text to be looked for Eliminating all of the expression evaluation parameters and leaving only the search text, fixed the problem I was having with the event log searches not alerting when they should have. I'm not sure exactly when this change occurred; I'm fairly positive it was sometime after the 8.02 patch was released since we hadn't started using it for the alerting until after I had applied that patch and possibly the v8.03 patch as well (time line is a little fuzzy at the moment). It may have changed after one of the latest v8.03 hot-fix patches that were released which is what I'm suspecting but can't prove it at the moment. I also don't recall seeing anything in any of the release notes indicating something in the way expression's were now being evaluated had changed, but I thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else was having similar problems but hadn't thought to check this out yet.... ------------------------------------------------------------ Bryan Harrell, SPII Network Infrastructure - Tallahassee Fla.
