Cody,

Sounds like you need to configure the snmpd.conf file. You can find this in
<net-snmp install path>/share/snmp. Attached is an example snmpd.conf which
should work if you replace the strings encased in chevrons (e.g. <ip of your
nms>) with the appropriate values.

Variables such as "mynetwork" and "MyRWGroup" are fully configurable and can be
changed to meet your requirements but it is not essential to do so in order to
get the agent to work. If you do change them, just make sure the changes are
consistent throughout the file.

Also, it might be worth checking whether or not you've got a recent version of
the agent installed. The most recent version of the source code can be
downloaded from www.net-snmp.org (net-snmp is the new name for ucd-snmp)

Good luck. It took me a while to get net-snmp up and running properly, but it
is worth putting the effort in. It's a great agent for Unix and will prove very
useful to you.

Let me know how you get on

Best regards

Toby Masson

I would like to use the UC Davis MIB to monitor system performance on a
Redhat 7.3 server and have SNMPD working but when I use a MIB browser to
view the UC Davis tree I dont get any results back.

Is there something I have to do on the Linux server itself to get results
using the UC Davis MIB??
