I have a workstation set in the office that everyone can see to check on the status of the network. I setup a Guest account in WUP for this workstation, with permissions to look only. However the web console for WUP took up too much screen realestate and made it difficult to see the icons. I copied, renamed, and modified several of the WUP web pages to get a very clean web interface, with just the MAP and the black IPSWITCH bar at the bottom. Also when you click on a device that page is very simple. One thing that I added to the device page is to include the Monitor States on that page. If the IPSwitch folks are reading this could you add an option to have a simplified Web interface in the user configuration, like what I have created here. Also on the Full Console web console when you view a device it would be very convenient to see the Monitor States on the Main page without have to go to a different page, look at what I did with the "deviceonly.asp" in the attached ZIP file as an example.
Due to some mail servers blocking ZIP files I have renamed the file to "WUP-MAPONLY.1", you will need to rename it to "WUP-MAPONLY.zip" in order to use it. To use this exact this file into the "WhatsUp Professional 2005" folder, it will not overwrite any of the original WUP files (I create new file names to prevent this). Then to access use the following URL: http://[Your server name or IP]:81/NmConsole/MapOnly.asp?sGroupView=MapOnly.asp&nDeviceGroupID=[Number of Map you want to display]&sTab=Explorer&sUsername=[Your User Name]&sPassword=[Password] Replace any item in brackets, including the brackets, with the appropriate information. The "&sUsername=[Your User Name]&sPassword=[Password]" is optional. You can use it if you do not want to go through the logon screen, by the way this works on the Full WUP Web Console as well. Although for security reasons I would recommend that if you use this use HTTPS so that this information is encrypted.
