As with any batch routine, you pass the parameters as batch.cmd %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9  Just watch if any of the parameters have spaces.  We are doing something similar where I've got a snmp power strip.  For each device plugged into it, I use Info1 for which power strip, and Info2 for the outlet.  I then set the device as snmp manageable giving the snmp write community of the power strip.  The alert then calls a batch program passing %W %1 %2 as the arguments.  Then within the batch, the command is snmpset -v1 -c%1 %2 %3 i 1.  Depending on the type of pager, you may be able to email the alert to the pager.  You could also use Perl.  You would just need to set the variables within the routine as $ARGV[0]...$ARGV[xxx].

Couple of notes about the program notifications:

1)  The program needs to follow the 8.3 naming convention.
2)  The folder where the program is needs to follow the 8.3 convention.
3)  You must specify the working directory (see 1 & 2)

Subject: RE: [WhatsUp Forum] How to call notification through batch command on W2K platform?

There are probably other ways to do this:

You can have your batch to create an html page.

What you could do is have your batch file to determine whether or not your parameters are in limits.

Then the batch would write an html file to the web directory of WUG with contents with something like: Its Good!

Have a Whats Up Gold Custom HTML monitor that looks for the content:  Its Good! on the page created by your batch.  If it is not Good, then you can trigger an alert.

Your batch should over write the html file each time it runs.

What are you using to schedule the batch file?

Hi,

Is there a way I can call the notification routine through a command line in WUG? For example, in a command batch I validate some system parameters and if they are not in limits then I call WUG Notification routine, which will activate the paging.
