You can do this with the OpenManage Mibs.  I assume that you have OpenManage running . . .

There are several things you can look at, including individual fan, cpu, board temps, but the best thing to do is look at the OID called Dell Cooling Device Status, OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1.200.10.1.21.1, which is a value of 3 when it is "normal"

Alternatively, you could look at the OID called GlobalSystemStatus, OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1.200.10.1.2.1 which is a rollup that also includes cooling.

This, however is a bad way to monitor the temperature of a room if that is your intent.

If you are doing that, you need to browse the mib and find the intake fan, as the exhaust fan/power supply temps will usually be anywhere from 7-10 celsius over ambient, ie: 77-90 Farenheit.

Just out of curiosity, what are you monitoring the temperatures on?  What SNMP agent?

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Temperature Values

I am currently monitoring the temperature values of our servers and have it alert me when the value goes above a certain temp.  My question is, is there anyway I can get the temp probe value in the email that it sends to me.  For example, if it is set up to email when the temp gets above 20 degrees, can it email me with the exact temp that it is currently reading (22 degrees).  I haven't been able to find the variable to do that yet.
