This has been reported to Ipswitch and a
fix is in the works to be included in SP1. ETA for SP1 is aprox. end of Q1 (per
Ipswitch). /kush From:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Is there anyway of auto generating an UP alert
following a down alert in WUP. If a device missed only 1 or 2 polls then it was
never classed as down and so an UP alert was not send if the second poll
succeeded. After upgrading to WUP, it appears that this can
only be half achieved by configuring an action group with a down event and an
up event configured within the group. I currently have the down alert set to
trigger after "down for 2 mins" which is preventing excessive
alerting as I want it to, which is great. I then have an additional alert
within the group for when a device comes back up. My problem is is that I still receive hundreds
of Up alerts which are generated following a single poll failure. It seems that
WUP regards the device as down even if an alert has not been generated, and
therefore sends an Up alert on a succesive poll, following a single poll
failure which is totally undesireable. Its important to our business to track
the duration of outages via email without having to dig into the logs everytime
so turning off the Up alert is not really an option. Of course, this is only trying to work around
the reason why we have so many single poll failures in the first place. I
cannot find an explanation for this. We are running WUP on a high end dual 3GHz
server with a hard set 100Mb network connection. All resource usage is minimal.
When we ran WUG on the same box, the poll misses were about 10X less.
Configuring WUP is really bad as it takes between 5-10 seconds on every mouse
click to open the option you are trying to get to. All suggestions are appreciated Heath Dickinson MBCS CCNA MCP
