I have created a
vbscript that will e-mail the number of devices in each state and the total
number of devices being monitored. I then use the system scheduler to run
the script to send the status every morning and afternoon. It requires you
to install a SMTP Active-X object from Ostrosoft. If you would be glad to
provide the script if you want to play with it.

details. I'm definitely getting an intermittent down. The target
servers are two Windows 2003 machines, and one Fedora machine running BIND
9.2.2. I'll see if I can get a packet capture at some point
today.
